This ride follows a new 42 km loop that has been created in Melbourne's North East. It combines the Main Yarra Trail, the Mullum Mullum Trail and the Koonung Trail. The loop is entirely off-road on good quality bike paths (mostly sealed but with some gravel), and passes through beautiful parklands and along rivers and creeks. For most of the loop you won't believe you're in metropolitan Melbourne.

We'll start the ride at Alphington train station, a short distance from the Darebin Creek Trail. We'll follow the trail to Main Yarra Trail, which is where our 42 km loop starts. We'll then head outbound (north east) along Main Yarra Trail, passing through Westerfolds Park, before reaching our lunch spot at Pettys Orchard. You can bring your lunch or buy food at Yarra Organics Cafe at Pettys Orchard.

After lunch we'll follow Mullum Mullum Trail towards Ringwood. This section of the ride includes the newest section of trail that was completed in 2018. Once we reach Ringwood, we'll head back towards the city on the Koonung Trail, eventually reaching the start of the loop again. Those looking to shorten the ride can finish at Ringwood station (cutting the ride in half).
