Castlemaine to Maldon is 18 km, so it's a rail trail we can comfortably do in a day as a 36 km round trip.
The track itself is described by Rail Trails Australia as rough in places but entirely ride-worthy, as long as your bike doesn't have skinny tyres.
Once in Maldon we'll have lunch at The Kangaroo Hotel
