The first stage of the new rail trail from Lilydale to Yarra Glen is open. Eventually you will be able to do a big loop from Lilydale through Yarra Glen and Healesville before joining the Warburton Trail at either Woori Yallock or Seville.

After riding back to Lilydale we’ll have a look at the new link that connects trails around Lilydale Lake with a nexus of many other trails to the west. There are many directions you could take here if you wanted a longer ride, but we’ll go for the simple option of riding to Ringwood.

If you want a shorter ride there are multiple options: Lilydale-Yerring-Lilydale (16.5 km), Mooroolbark (~25 km), Croydon (~30 km), Bayswater (~34 km).

We’ll have lunch in Lilydale after riding out to Yering.
