Ride the Gippsland Plains Trail from Traralgon to Stratford - about 62 km each way. With the completion of Thompson River Bridge the trail is now continuous, without any detours on road. Stay overnight in Stratford and ride back Sunday. And you may find it convenient to stay the Friday night before the ride in Traralgon because if you're taking the train you'll have a very early start from Southern Cross in Melbourne. As you ride the trail you'll pass through floodplain vistas, farmland, wetlands, forest and cross many heritage bridges. It'll be Springtime so the wildflowers will be out too.
